The six successor states
The Danubian Restoration Movement (DRM; also known as Danube Restoration Movement) was started in December of 2023 under the name Danube Unity Movement by a Hungarian student, Ákos Kovács, and two Austrian monarchists, Paul from Lower Austria and Nicolas from Tyrol. The aim of the movement is to restore monarchy in the six successor states of the former Habsburg Monarchy.
The form of monarchy DRM advocates for is semi-constitutional, in which the hereditary monarch has political powers and is not obliged to only act "on the advice" of other organs, but can follow his own political program independent of party politics; such form of monarchy is present in Liechtenstein and Monaco. Thus, the ideal outcome of DRM's mission would be a semi-constitutional monarchist federation in six core states: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia, with the legitimate claimant to the former Habsburg throne, currently Archduke Karl von Habsburg-Lothringen, as its monarch.
DRM also aims to reach out to other monarchist organizations operating in the successor states of the Habsburg Monarchy. The organisation currently promotes the monarchy primarily through social media and poster displays, but in-person meetings will also be planned as the community grows.
